Liisbet's travel review

6-11 March I went to France together with my class students. On Wednesday at 4.30 we set off from Kehtna to Tallinn airport by cars, the plane departed at 6.45. We flew to Munich. We visited a church and several shops. In front of the church there were a lot of people, some buskers and clowns, too. From Munich we flew to Paris and then continues by bus to Rouen. Hotel room was small, but soon we got used to it. There were three of us in the room: Evita, Gladis and me. In the evening we went with our Estonian group to a Chinese restaurant. We ate rice, shrimps, sweet and spicy chicken, noodles, fish and drank tea. I learned how to use chopsticks.

The next day we went to school. There are about 450 students and lessons were very quiet. At breaks students had to be outside and their school day ended at 17.30. Comenius children took part in different workshops that day. I was in four different workshops. First I went with my group to a classroom where we had to talk in front of the camera and tell why do we liked Comenius project. I was a bit nervous about that but actually it wasn’t so scary. After that I went to create  a cartoon. That workshop was the most interesting. Next I went to the drawing workshop. There I drew in watercolours a river with fields around it. Finally we went to make  pancakes. At the workshops I didn’t like that we had to wait a lot before we could start, but they were interesting. In the evening we watched a cartoon that we had made and then went back to the hotel by car. There we communicated with Spanish students, with whom we talked the most.
On Friday we presented our slideshow about the water week in Kehtna Basic School. After that we walked around Grand-Quevilly and then headed to the high school to have lunch. First we tried different seafood, which I didn’t like very much and then we ate chicken and potatoes. We also visited Rouen town. It was raining and cold but other than that it was great. In the evening there was a welcome concert at school. Most of all I liked the performance where students from different countries performed. I didn’t like that all plays were in French and I couldn’t understand anything. Later there was a disco and then we went back to the hotel.

On Saturday we visited the Normandy county. We went to the Honfleur, a very beautiful place. There were many restaurants and cafes. Then we went to Le Havre, an industrial town. I didn't find that town beautiful. Years ago all houses were bombed down and then rebuilt. After that we went to Etretat, another picturesque place. We sat by the ocean and had lunch. Soon we turned back to the hotel and we were taken to French families to have dinner. Me and Gladis were in the same family. At first they introduced the house to us. It had three floors and it was beautiful. We had a crab pie, French fries, chicken, cheese, and egg pudding. (creme brulee) Later we played Wii. When we got back to the hotel, we started to pack our suitcases.

On Sunday morning we went to Paris. At first we carried our stuff to the hotel and then went to explore the city. We went to the Pere Lachaise cemetery, Notre-Dame, which was very beautiful, Louvre museum, where we saw the Mona Lisa picture and statue of Aphrodite, under the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower. We had great views from the top but it was also very cold there. On Sunday we also had lunch in a restaurant. When we got back to the hotel we were very tired and our legs hurt and shortly we went to bed. The hotel was very nice and cozy.

The next day we strolled in Montmartre. We visited one church (Sacre Couvre) and saw a wall with “I love you” written in so many different languages. Then we took our things and drove to the airport by metro. We flew to Munich where we had four hours of free time. There we prepared a slideshow that we presented at our school on Friday. We also looked around shops. We arrived at Tallinn about at 23.00 and I got home about 0.15. I wasn’t tired at all and I talked about the trip to my family.

The trip was very interesting for me. The most I liked Honfleur, Notre-Dame and the Eiffel Tower. I got some new friends and I could practice my English. I am a bit more brave and self-confident now.
